- Asbestos was widely used as an insulating, sound deadening and strengthening agent in numerous building materials up until 1978, when it was phased out of production in certain materials.
- Asbestos was commonly found in building materials such as, heating duct insulation,acoustic spray ceiling material, flooring and glues, roofing materials and glues, drywall mudding compounds, exterior stucco, exhaust and water piping, piping insulation, housing siding panels and auto brake pads.
